Structure for Branch

The mathematical formulae observed in the growth of tree branches can only be guessed at but not formulated from an individual branch. Using a branch that I found, I attached it to model-building materials such as cardboard and tape to deduce the direction and angle of growth, and to calculate its volume. Photographed with infrared light in order to normalized colour, this precarious structure became akin to an architectural model.
